The NFL recorded earnings of more than $13 billion after its 2023 season, which means that each of the 32 teams that make up American football will receive more than $400 million dollars.

According to Sportico The Business of Sports, a platform specializing in monetary and advertising terms, NFL revenues represent an increase of between six and eight percent compared to the statistics compiled at the end of 2022.

The exorbitant figure came to the league and the various teams thanks to multiple revenues that come from television rights, advertising, shared revenues and royalties from various affiliates and subsidiaries of the league such as NFL International, NFL Properties and NFL Enterprises.

Likewise, television contracts with companies such as Amazon, ESPN, Fox, NBC, CBS and YouTube generated the largest amount of money of the $13 billion dollars that the NFL received.

Since 2012, the NFL’s season-ending revenue has increased by 115 percent, a percentage that, based on the recent decade, should give each team close to $800 million over 10 years.

At the end of the 2012 season, each franchise in the league received $180 million, and by the end of the 2018 campaign, $274 million was distributed per team. Last season, that amount reached $374 million. Today, it exceeds $400 million.

The consistency and growth of these revenues has strengthened the NFL with the value of each of its franchises, the best valued of any league in the world with an average of $5.14 billion dollars.

The Dallas Cowboys, owned by oil billionaire Jerry Jones, are the most expensive team in the NFL and in the world at $9.2 billion, followed by the New York Giants, who celebrated their 100th anniversary this year and are valued at $7 billion.

The Cincinnati Bengals and Jacksonville Jaguars are the least expensive franchises in the NFL, valued at $4 billion each.

In addition to this revenue, at the end of each season, league teams receive an additional payment for shared revenue from ticket sales, which after the 2023 season reached $20 million per franchise.
