Two inmates who escaped through the roof of a Mississippi jail on Friday were captured Saturday after a chase, Claiborne County Sheriff Edward Goods said.

Tyrekennel Collins, 24, and Dezarrious Johnson, 18, were found inside an abandoned home in Claiborne County, according to Fox News Digital. The two men had escaped from the Claiborne County Detention Center a day earlier.

A video posted on Facebook shows officers carrying Collins and Johnson out of the home and into the patrol car. Collins is shown walking with difficulty, having injured his right leg during the escape, according to the sheriff’s office.

Goods had reported that the two inmates were filmed by security cameras escaping through the roof and exiting through the exterior wall, according to WAPT. Authorities had warned the public that the men were very dangerous.

Both Collins and Johnson are awaiting trial on murder charges in separate counties.

Collins is charged with the October 2023 murder of his cousin in Copiah County. Johnson is charged with murder and aggravated assault in Jefferson County stemming from an October 2022 incident, WJTV-TV reported.

Johnson’s trial was set to begin on October 15, according to Fox News. But now both men face an escape charge, worsening their legal situation.
