A Michigan man won $4 million in the lottery after stopping to fill up his gas tank at a convenience store.

A 52-year-old man from Saginaw County, Michigan, hit the jackpot when he stopped at the Fastline convenience store on State Street in Saginaw to buy gas.

He decided to buy two scratch-off tickets for the $4,000,000 Ultimate game while he was in the store.

“I stopped to get gas and purchased two $4,000,000 Ultimate tickets while I was in the store,” the lucky player told Michigan Lottery officials.

“I scratched off the barcodes, scanned the first ticket and got a message to file a claim. I scanned it again and when the same message came up a second time, I thought the scanner was broken. I scanned the second ticket and that one scanned fine, so I wasn’t sure what was going on,” he added.

The man explained that it was not until he finished scratching the ticket that he realized what was happening.

“I went out to my car to get gas and scratched the ticket while I waited. It’s hard to describe the feeling when I saw the winning amount. I got in the car and yelled, ‘We just won $4 million!’” the winner said.

The winner said he plans to use his new fortune to buy land and invest.
