Following the success of the 2024 Caribbean Series in Miami, the city’s Marlins franchise has decided to continue investing in Caribbean baseball. That’s why they will hold a tournament that will include teams from the winter leagues of Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico.

The journalist of ESPNEnrique Rojas revealed the creation of this small tournament that will take place between November 8 and 10 at LoanDepot Park in Miami. It will feature the participation of six teams from these countries.

“The Miami Marlins have completed an agreement to host a winter sports tournament at LoanDepot Park from November 8-10,” Rojas reports.

Leones del Caracas, Navingantes del Magallanes and Cardenales de Lara will represent Venezuela. Estrellas Orientales will represent the Dominican Republic and Criollos de Caguas and Cangrejeros de Santurce will represent Puerto Rico.

Although the announcement has not yet been made 100% official, league executives have already confirmed the development of this tournament. One of them was the president of the LVBP, Giusepe Palmisano. “After the Caribbean Series, there are invitations for three teams to play a Hexagonal in Miami. This Hexagonal is not valid for professional leagues,” said the executive.

This two-day, six-team mini-tournament aims to promote the baseball leagues of these countries. It also aims to build on the success of Miami and LoanDepot Park, the venue where the final of the 2024 Caribbean Series and the World Baseball Classic were held in 2023.
