The famous leg crossing performed by Sharon Stone in the film “Basic Instinct” (1992) is perhaps considered one of the most emblematic scenes in the film industry.

Even though more than 30 years have passed since the premiere of the file, which starred Sharon Stone herself, Michael Douglas and Jeanne Tripplehorn, that image continues to be the talk of the town due to the risky nature of the scene.

In a bold move that captures the iconic essence of her role, the 66-year-old actress surprised the nearly four million followers on her Instagram account by recreating the famous leg-crossing scene as a tribute to her provocative performance as Catherine Tramell, a bisexual erotic novelist accustomed to manipulating people with her beauty and sensuality who becomes the obsession of Nick Curran (Douglas), a detective with a dark past who tries to determine whether the woman is really a ruthless murderer or a simple victim.

The actress, who has a strong presence on social media, shared the photo in which she appears posing seated, wearing a sensual set of red lace underwear, with her legs crossed as in that memorable shot. And, so that there was no doubt that it was a (self) tribute, Stone accompanied the image with a phrase as suggestive as it is unequivocal, which plays with the original title of the film: “Basically yours.”

With the same dazzling style that characterized her decades ago, Stone, now in a different stage of her life and career, demonstrated the gesture, which evokes both the sensuality and strength that define her as an actress.

It is worth mentioning that those couple of seconds of the scene were enough for Sharon Stone to go from being a not-so-well-known actress to becoming a sex symbol, a change so sudden that it surprised even her. She mentioned this in 1995.

“The film was not about me being a sex symbol because there are only five minutes of sex in the entire film. What happens is that that image was very powerful and people have not been able to forget it,” she said.

However, I have to admit that when that happened I was already entering that stage where actresses are no longer objects of desire, so I think it has served to give me a little more longevity in this industry, because my teenage admirers still think I am attractive,” she added.
