Actress Shannen Doherty, who starred in the series “Beverly Hills, 90210,” passed away on July 13 at the age of 53 after a long battle with cancer that she had been suffering from since 2015. After her passing, a fragment of the last interview she gave resurfaced on social media in which she revealed her greatest wish, which she was never able to fulfill.

Actress Shannen Doherty, star of ‘Beverly Hills 90210’, dies

In a fragment of the last interview she gave for the podcast “Let’s Be Clear With Shannen Doherty”, she referred to her oncologist, Dr. Lawrence Piro, who provided her with different tools and treatments to try to get pregnant, but this never happened. In 2019 she started with the procedure, but the results were null.

Her intention to become a mother was always there, and when she was diagnosed with cancer, that desire grew. “I didn’t just want a child for myself, but for my husband as well. I wanted it for our marriage. I wanted him to have that part of himself fulfilled as well,” she said.

Kurt Iswarienko and Doherty tied the knot in 2011, when they felt they were “older” enough to do so. Later, the idea of parenthood came up, and the actress underwent an in vitro fertilization (IVF) procedure. “I did several rounds of it,” she recalled in that podcast.

Due to menopause, she was forced to stop trying with in vitro fertilization and in 2016 she had a mastectomy. Little by little, her chances of having a child with her husband faded. Although she went in for a check-up in 2017, in 2019 the cancer progressed and by 2020 it was confirmed that it was in stage 4. This news finally destroyed her expectations.

In 2023, she separated from Iswarienko and in conversation with People magazine she recognized that she had opened up to love again: “I have a male best friend with whom we joke that we are married, and his two children and I have made great progress and we just love each other and spend time together, and I consider them as my children,” she revealed.

Two weeks before she died, and in the same podcast program mentioned above, Shannen showed an improvement in her health and said she felt hopeful.

“At the same time, I have to say that there is something positive about it and the positive thing is that because the molecular structure of my cancer cells has recently changed, it means that there are many more protocols that I can try. For the first time in probably a couple of months, I feel hopeful. I was hopeful before, but I was still preparing myself,” she said.

When she realized that her life might not end well, Shannen Doherty decided to sell some of her furniture and belongings with the intention of taking her mother on a tour of different countries and cities.

“They are just things. I don’t need them. They don’t bring me joy, but what brings me joy is taking my mother to places she always wanted to go,” he said. However, unfortunately, he was unable to carry out those plans he had in mind.
