The joking and humorous personality of Hall of Famer David Ortiz came to light this Tuesday during an interview with New York Yankees player Juan Soto, in which he not only asked again that the Mules secure the services of the also Dominican, but also made a gesture in which he took out a wad of bills as a “loan” for the signing.

During a meeting that also included Yankees legends Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter, Ortiz initially praised Soto, saying that he looked great in the pinstripes despite the fact that most of his career and where he achieved the most success was with the archrival Boston Red Sox.

“I hate to tell you this, but I have to say it. Juan Soto looks great in pinstripes,” he said, referring to the Bronx team’s attire.

He then continued with the image that generated multiple laughs among both the panelists and the spectators, when he surprised everyone by asking the Yankees to renew Soto’s contract.

“I know you guys are focused on the season right now, with what you’ve been doing in the first half of the season, but I have to say this,” before delivering the surprise of the show.

The former designated hitter pulled out a red bag during the show, shook it in front of the cameras and it contained a wad of cash, proving that even he would be willing to make a multiyear contract with the Yankees possible for Soto.

“Pay the man,” Ortiz exclaimed. “This is a loan I’m giving you, buy a new apartment, and we’ll talk after the season. The man will get paid, that’s all I have to say” amidst laughter.
