Joe Manganiello and Sofia Vergara got married in November 2015 in a lavish ceremony in Palm Beach, Florida. However, everything changed when they announced in mid-2023 that they preferred to go their separate ways. During the actress’s statements, she mentioned that things had come to an end because he wanted to start a family, although he decided to break the silence and give his version of what happened.
“We did try to have a family for the first year and a half. If you’re done with the kids, then I understand. Just tell me,” he began by telling ‘Men’s Journal’.
Joe added that he doesn’t like being seen as the sole culprit for the relationship not working out: “It’s because two people grew apart and sometimes that happens. Being portrayed as having some sort of mid-life crisis, and after nine years I gave him an ultimatum of do this thing that’s potentially unhealthy for your body or I’m leaving? That was never me.”
Although the truth behind Joe Manganiello and Sofia Vergara’s separation seems to be an issue still unresolved, the truth is that both have moved on with their lives and have found happiness in new romantic relationships. The couple, who were married for eight years, have left their differences behind and have opted for the path of respect and maturity in this new stage of their lives.
During an interview with ‘El País’, the Colombian actress said: “My marriage broke down because my husband was younger, he wanted to have children and I didn’t want to be an old mother. I feel that it’s not fair for the baby. I respect whoever does it, but that’s not for me anymore. I already had a son at 19, who is now 32, and I’m ready to be a grandmother, not a mother.”
In mid-January 2024, she was invited to ‘El Hormiguero’ and mentioned the characteristics that a man must meet to be with her: “He has to be fifty-something like me, he has to have children – I am 51 years old – and he has to be good-looking, but he doesn’t have to be a divine thing, like an actor, no. I’ve already said it many times, he has to be the same or have more money than me.”
