After a video went viral in which Maluma can be seen apparently arguing with some Argentine fans during the final of the 2024 Copa América, which was held last weekend, the Colombian singer decided to upload a clip where he shows his face to categorically deny what happened, stating that what was said are completely unfounded rumors.

In a story he posted on his Instagram account, the “Cuatro Babys” singer explained that he was actually trying to cheer on his home country’s team and regretted that things got out of control due to the atmosphere that was being experienced.

“Don’t believe everything you see on social media. I wasn’t fighting with anyone. I stood up there in the stands to shout to the people of my own team, to the people of Colombia, to get up from their seats and start cheering like we were because the game was very tense and difficult. You know how one gets with the passion of football,” Maluma said.

It should be noted that, although Maluma confronted the situation, the explanation of Juan Luis Londoño Arias, the artist’s real name, left opinions divided, because although there were some users who said they understood his euphoria over the result of the match, others claimed that he was justifying his behavior to try to look good to his fans in Argentina.

Last Sunday, July 14, during the Copa América final between Argentina and Colombia, an apparent verbal ‘fight’ occurred between Maluma and some Argentine fans.

In the videos posted on social media, Maluma can be seen from his box at the Hard Rock Stadium, where he was watching the game with friends and other celebrities, shouting at several Argentine fans, who did not remain silent and responded with insults. In addition, at one point the Colombian singer climbs onto a part of the box to shout some words and make gestures to the fans of the opposing team.
