Pepe Aguilar made history last Monday, July 15, when he became the first artist to perform mariachi music on one of the most important late-night talk shows on American television: “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”.
Prior to his performance on the show, the Mexican singer shared a series of images on social media showing his preparation for the concert within the framework of Summer of Mexicana.
However, despite being part of the important show, the singer of “Miedo” did not participate in the conversations that host Jimmy Kimmel had with his guests. Instead, Angela Aguilar’s father was introduced by host Anthony Anderson, as well as one of the show’s most beloved characters, Guillermo Rodríguez.

Pepe Aguilar shines on stage
As part of his historic performance, the Mexican, who opened his show with the song “Mira quién lo dice” from his most recent album “Que llueva Tequila,” mentioned on the stage of El Capitan: “I am the first mariachi to perform on Jimmy Kimmel’s show.”
Although the singer appeared alone on stage, he was accompanied by his son Leonardo, who toasted with tequila alongside the presenters. Likewise, Angela herself was seen near her father although she did not participate in the show.
Nobody stops regional Mexican music
This is not the first time that a Mexican singer has appeared on the famous American talk-show. In previous months, his current son-in-law, Christian Nodal, was the first regional Mexican singer to appear on the show.
Similarly, but in another very important show in the United States, “The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon”, Peso Pluma was part of the night’s participation with the song “Ella Baila Sola” in 2023, and then returned to the program, as a guest and within the presentations just a few weeks ago with his song “La Durango”.
Likewise, and after Peso Pluma’s first presentation, Carin León also took the stage on Jimmy Fallón’s show in recent months.
Following his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel’s show, Pepe Aguilar will continue the final stretch of his tour with a performance in San Jose, California, on July 19. A day later, the singer and his children, Leonardo and Angela, will end their tour with a show in Sacramento the following day.
