German police announced in a statement that the alleged stalker of singer Taylor Swift, who had threatened the American singer on social media, was arrested on Wednesday, July 17, in the city of Gelsenkirchen.
According to the message shared by local authorities, the 34-year-old man, whose name was not revealed, was arrested at the checkpoints of the Veltins Arena, in the city of Gelsenkirchen, when he was preparing to enter the venue where the North American star performed.
The “Shake It Off!” singer performed in the German city from July 17 to 19 as part of her “The Eras Tour 2024” tour in Europe.
Stalker to remain in custody for Swift’s protection
The same police report also mentioned that after the man threatened Taylor Swift and her partner, Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce, an investigation was carried out.
According to German authorities, the above did not completely rule out the risk to the singer, so it was decided to arrest the man, an American national.
In addition to the arrest, Gelsenkirchen police announced that the alleged stalker will remain in custody for one day after the singer finishes her concerts in the city, which was on July 19.
Nobody stops Taylor Swift
During her performance last Thursday, July 18, the American singer had among her audience big stars of international music such as her friend, Selena Gomez, who was captured without the company of her current boyfriend Benny Blanco.
Likewise, the presence of actress Emma Watson was announced from the celebrity tent, as well as singer Sabrina Carpenter and actress and friend of Swift, Sophie Turner.
After her stop in Gelsenkirchen, Swift will continue on German soil with two more concerts in Hamburg on July 23 and 24, and two more shows in Munich on July 27 and 28.
After her visit to Germany, she will travel to Poland, where she will give three shows from August 1 to 3, and then fly to Austria, where she will perform from August 8 to 10. Finally, and after having performed weeks before, the American will return to the United Kingdom, to the city of London, to close her tour of Europe with five concerts from August 15 to 20.
The current partner of NFL player Travis Kelce will not be returning to North America until October 18 to perform various shows in the cities of Miami, New Orleans, Indianapolis, in the United States, as well as in Toronto and Vancouver, Canada, the city where she will definitively end her tour on December 8.
