Fresh Del Monte’s Precious Honeyglow pineapple, the most compact pineapple in the company’s history at 1.5 to 2 pounds, won “Overall Food Innovation of the Year” at the 2024 Mindful Awards.
This is a personal-sized fresh pineapple weighing less than two pounds that offers extra-sweet flavor and a radiant golden hue. It was selected from thousands of nominations worldwide for its innovative design to reduce food waste by offering consumers more size options.

The Mindful Awards recognize conscious consumer packaged goods (CPG) companies and products and their mission is to honor those who offer healthier options with environmental and social awareness in mind, according to a statement.
For this reason, Fresh Del Monte’s Precious Honeyglow Pineapple was selected from thousands of nominations worldwide, across multiple categories including snacks, food, beverages, supplements, household products and more.
Food innovations for consumers
Fresh Del Monte’s vice president of marketing in North America, Melissa Mackay, says the brand’s product development “is focused on offering convenient and enjoyable ways for consumers to incorporate fresh fruits and vegetables into their daily routines, but we also put a strong emphasis on sustainability and eliminating food waste.”

Among the characteristics of Honeyglow pineapple, it stands out that it offers a sweeter flavor than traditional pineapples. They are grown on specialized farms in Costa Rica and have the advantage of being allowed to mature naturally on the plant for a few more days, to achieve an extra sweet flavor and that golden hue that distinguishes them.
