A few days ago it was reported that Antonio Banderas had finally torn down his large house in Marbella, Spain. This property has brought the Spanish actor many joys, but also many problems.

Photos have now been released showing the before and after of the large beachfront property that Banderas has owned since 1997. In the photos, part of the team in charge of the demolition can be seen.

It is known that Banderas intends to build a new house on the same lot that has belonged to him for so many years, but it is not clear when the new project will begin. According to ‘El País’ and other Spanish outlets, the actor is waiting for the authorities to give him the necessary permits to begin.

Why Antonio Banderas demolished his house

Antonio Banderas has owned this house in Marbella, Spain, for 27 years. He has shared this place with his loved ones, family and has used it as a place to rest after long periods of filming. In 1997, the actor bought the property from journalist Encarna Sánchez.

At the time, this seemed to have been a great decision, since it was a residence that had just been built a couple of years ago, facing the sea and in his home province. But not everything was perfect for Banderas, since a few years after acquiring it, he began to receive complaints from his neighbors in Los Monteros, the residential area where the house is located.

In a complaint filed in 2003, the residents claimed that part of the construction of the property was on land reserved for public facilities in the maritime corridor. This complaint brought to light that the original builders of the house had received an illegal permit to build.

In 2007 the property was declared illegal, but three years later Banderas thought he could solve everything thanks to the General Urban Development Plan of Marbella, which promised the regularization of several houses in the city that were in the same state.

However, that plan was put on hold and the actor was left with the same problem: a dream house that was illegal.

Although he has been waiting for years and looking for solutions, the truth is that his only option is the one he has executed: demolishing the property and starting a new project that complies with all regulations.
