The 2030 World Cup will be held for the first time in six countries and three different continents. Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Spain, Portugal and Morocco will host the centenary of the world’s most important football event.

According to FIFA, the World Cup will have its opening match in Montevideo, the city where the first match of the first World Cup was also held in 1930. Argentina and Paraguay will host a couple more group matches before moving the rest of the competition to Morocco, Portugal and Spain.

Although most of the matches will be held in Spain, it is the country with the largest infrastructure and stadiums for this event.

That is why the Royal Spanish Football Federation recently officially presented 11 venues for the 2030 World Cup to FIFA. All of these will be subject to prior approval by the committee.

Spain will host the 2030 World Cup matches in the following stadiums: Anoeta (Donostia-San Sebastián), Camp Nou (Barcelona), Gran Canaria (Las Palmas), La Cartuja (Seville), La Rosaleda (Málaga), Metropolitano (Madrid), Nueva Romareda (Zaragoza), RCDE Stadium (Barcelona, Cornellá-El Prat), Riazor (A Coruña), San Mamés (Bilbao) and, finally, the Santiago Bernabéu stadium (Madrid), which will host the final of the tournament.

This number of venues far exceeds the three in Portugal and the six in Morocco. Spain will be the country that will host the most games and with the most venues.

Spain starts with 45 sub-venues

In addition to the 11 venues mentioned above, Spain has submitted 45 sub-venues for the 2030 World Cup.

These sub-venues serve as training and concentration centres for the 48 teams that will participate in the upcoming centenary World Cup.

These sub-venues include the Sports Cities of clubs such as Real Madrid, Rayo Vallecano, Valladolid, Levante and Villarreal, as well as the stadiums of Almería, Elche and León.
