Juan Soto’s season with the New York Yankees is being one of the best this year. The Dominican slugger has performed excellently since his arrival in the Bronx for 2024.

But Soto’s stay in the Big Apple might not extend beyond 2024. The young player will be a free agent at the end of the season and so far there is no agreement between the parties for him to stay in New York.

Even the most recent reports of the New York Post which journalist Jon Heyman revealed. They claim that Soto would have several franchises willing to negotiate a big contract if nothing is done with the Yankees. The Los Angeles Dodgers being the most interested.

“They are always a threat and I don’t think their $1.4 billion winter spending means they are out of money. They rarely pass up an opportunity to play at least for the biggest and best,” Heyman’s report in the New York Post said.

This information suggests that if the Yankees hesitate to negotiate with Soto, other franchises would be prepared to make a signing through free agency.

Heyman also claims that not only the Dodgers have the money and the intention to go for Soto. Three other franchises are also in the same situation.

New York Mets, Boston Red Sox and Philadelphia Phillies are the three teams that could afford to offer Soto a million-dollar contract. Some experts say it could be between 500 and 700 million for 10 or 11 seasons.

Soto wants to play with Ohtani

This report of the Dodgers’ interest in Soto was further fueled when, at the recent All-Star Game, the Dominican said that he would love to share a team with Shohei Ohtani one day.

“Shohei Ohtani would be one of the players I would like to play with. He went to the National League and I went to the American League, so it’s complicated,” Soto said.
