Presidential candidate Donald Trump said the next Republican National Convention could be held in Venezuela. He ironically criticized the “open borders” policies of President Joe Biden, his rival in the November 5 elections.

The arrival of foreigners has allegedly caused an increase in crime in the United States.

During a speech at the Republican National Convention, Trump claimed, without providing evidence, that Venezuela is no longer a dangerous country. He also warned that if Democrats remain in power, criminals will continue to arrive in the country among the hundreds of undocumented migrants.

“(Venezuela was) really a dangerous place, but not anymore because crime in Venezuela has dropped by 72%. In fact, if they ever win this election, I hate to say it, we would hold our next Republican convention in Venezuela because it will be a safe place,” he said.

His statement drew laughter from some in the audience. But the candidate added that American cities will be so unsafe that they will not be able to hold the Republican National Convention in this country.

What did Donald Trump say about undocumented migrants?

The former US president said he would put an end to the arrival of undocumented migrants. To do so, he proposed closing the border and finishing the construction of the wall, which is already well underway.

“It’s an invasion and we gave $800 billion to the Army and I took some of that money to build that wall. We did it with those funds because what’s better than that? We have to stop this invasion of our country that is killing hundreds of thousands of people every year. We will not allow this to continue,” he said.
