A slight movement of his head prevented a bullet from hitting the head of former President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump a week ago. The politician himself revealed details of the attack he suffered during a rally in Pennsylvania last Saturday and which caused strong questions about the actions of the United States Secret Service.

The images showing how close he was to being hit are impressive and the tycoon confirmed this during his speech at the Republican National Convention.

Trump, who thanked Americans for the love and support he says they have shown him after the assassination attempt, said the bullet from the assassin, identified as a 20-year-old named Thomas Crooks, passed just a quarter of an inch from his head.

And, although on this occasion he gave details of the incident for the first time, he assured that he will not speak about the subject again because for the Republican this is painful.

“It was a beautiful, warm day in the great state of Pennsylvania, in Butler County, the music was playing loud and the campaign was going very well. I went on stage and the group was singing happily, everyone was very happy,” he said.

The former president said he began speaking out strongly because at that time he was exposing the “great work” he did on migration at the southern border of the United States and that he said he was proud of the results he achieved.

Donald Trump explained that behind him there was a large screen displaying a graph of US border crossings during his term in office. According to the Republican, the figures it showed were absolutely astonishing.

“In order to see the graph I started to turn to the right and I was ready to turn a little bit more and I was lucky enough not to. I heard a quick whistling noise and something hit me really hard in the ear, right ear, and I said to myself ‘what was that! ’ I put my right hand to my ear and I lowered it and it was bloody, there was blood everywhere,” he said.

He immediately knew that it was something serious and that he was under attack.

“In one movement I threw myself to the ground. The bullets kept flying. The Secret Service agents ran onto the scene, wonderful people, they took great risks. They threw themselves on top of me so I would be protected, there was blood everywhere and I felt very safe because I had God at my side, I felt it,” he said.

The surprising thing, the Republican candidate said, was that if he had not moved his head, the young man’s bullet would have hit its target. “And I wouldn’t be here tonight,” he told the moved audience.
