The story of legendary Formula 1 driver Ayrton Senna will be told in a miniseries that will air on Netflix from November 29, with actor Gabriel Leone playing the role of the legendary Brazilian.

Through a brief synopsis released by Netflix, the series will show the “triumphs, disappointments, joys and sorrows of Ayrton Senna, revealing his personality and his relationships” throughout his career in the top category of motorsport until his death on May 1, 1994 at the San Marino Grand Prix.

Under the name Senna, the production will not only have the carioca at the wheel, but will also have the participation of his greatest rival Alain Prost (Matt Mella), as well as his best friend Galvão Bueno (Gabriel Louchard) and his former girlfriend, the famous television presenter Xuxa (Pamela Tomé).

Likewise, Alice Wegmann, in the role of Lilian, Senna’s first wife; Camila Márdila as his sister Viviane Senna; Hugo Bonemer (Nelson Piquet); Marco Ricca (Milton, his father); Nicolas Cruz (Leonardo, his brother); Rodrigo Veloso (Flávio, his brother-in-law), and Susana Ribeiro (Zaza, his mother) will also be present in the project.

Vicente Amorim is the general director and creator of the series and shares the directing duties with Julia Rezende in a project by the Brazilian production company Gullane together with Senna Brands and the pilot’s family.

Senna was born on March 12, 1960 in Sao Paulo and died at the age of 34 after losing control of his car at 300 kilometers per hour and crashing into the wall while completing the seventh lap of the San Marino Grand Prix, on the Imola circuit (Italy).

As a driver for the Toleman, Lotus, McLaren and Williams teams between 1984 and 1994, he won the Formula One world titles in 1988, 1990 and 1991, and was runner-up in 1989 and 1993.

In his 11 years in the top category of motorsport, he racked up 41 wins, 80 podiums and 65 first places on the grid in 162 classifications.
