San Francisco Giants slugger Jorge Soler hit the biggest home run hit in the Major Leagues in 2024 on Sunday, traveling a total of 478 feet.

During the Giants’ 3-2 victory over the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field, Soler put his team on the winning track from the very first inning, when he managed to shake the stands with a hit all the way to center field off starter Ryan Feltner’s pitches.

The pitch allowed the designated hitter to show all his power and surpass Shohei Ohtani, who had the longest home run of the season before that moment, after hitting a 476-foot homer on June 18, also at Coors Field.

Additionally, Soler’s homer became the second longest since Statcast records began (2015), only surpassed by Alex Dickerson’s 480-foot blast on September 1, 2020.

Soler has been able to increase his performance after a slow start as a cleanup hitter by signing a three-year, $42 million contract with the Giants, later being promoted to the leadoff hitter in the lineup.
