The Covid-19 variant affecting President Joe Biden is KP.2.3, according to the most recent medical report from Kevin O’Connor, the president’s physician. The report says the Democratic president is showing a favorable recovery after the virus was detected on Wednesday.

Biden, 81, is steadily improving while receiving treatment, according to a letter to the White House, Efe news agency reported. O’Connor explained that the president completed his sixth dose of Paxlovid on Saturday morning.

He clarified that although he still experiences cough and hoarseness, his symptoms have shown continued improvement.

The KP.2.3 variant is responsible for about 33.3% of new infections in the United States, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Biden’s vital signs, including pulse, blood pressure, respiratory rate and temperature, remain within normal parameters, and his oxygen saturation is good. The president’s lungs are clear, according to the report.

Joe Biden continues to be treated with Paxlovid and remains isolated at his residence in Delaware. Despite the illness, he continues to perform all his presidential duties.

Although the date of discharge has not been confirmed, his campaign reported that it could be during the next week, at which time the politician would resume his campaign events.

Campaign spokesman Michael Tyler said on a call with reporters that “as soon as we get the green light, we’ll be back on the campaign trail.”

This recovery comes amid growing criticism over Joe Biden’s suitability as a Democratic candidate. At least thirty congressional Democrats have publicly called for him to withdraw from the race for the upcoming November elections.
