Summer is in full swing and with it, the scorching heat that can turn our homes into real ovens. Although air conditioning is a popular solution, not everyone can afford its installation and maintenance.

Therefore, more affordable methods, such as the use of fans, become a viable alternative. However, in many cases, fans are not enough to combat the heat, especially at night.

To enjoy a pleasant night’s sleep, architect Leonardo Rogel has shared some tricks on his TikTok account that can help you keep your home cool without the need for air conditioning.

Effective and inexpensive tricks from an architect to cool your house without air conditioning

In his video, which has racked up over 2.1 million views, Rogel addresses the main problem with fans: they simply move air around without cooling it. To counteract this, he suggests humidifying the air in the room.

1) Spray water in the room. Rogel’s first tip is to lightly spray the room with water using a spray bottle before going to sleep. This simple method helps increase the humidity in the air, which can contribute to a feeling of freshness, especially in dry climates.

2) Wet towel behind the fan. The second trick is to wet a towel and place it behind the fan. “The evaporating water will cool the air around the towel, which will be sucked into the fan and pushed towards you,” explains Rogel. This method is similar to how fans with a water tank work and can be very effective in dry climates.

    3) Extra trick for hot nights. In addition to the methods mentioned above, Rogel suggests an additional trick to improve the efficiency of the fan during hot nights: place it in the window. According to the architect, “this way it will suck in the cool air from outside and push it into the room, helping to lower the temperature of the room.” This trick is not only cheap, but also easy to implement, offering an accessible way to improve our comfort during the hottest summer nights. “I know this is not an air conditioner, but with this climate every degree counts and best of all, it is free,” concludes Rogel.

The publication of these methods has generated numerous reactions on the social network TikTok. Users have expressed their impressions of the tricks revealed by Rogel.

With the right creativity and advice, it is possible to find affordable and effective solutions to stay cool during the summer without relying on air conditioning.
