The technical director of the Club América Eagles, André Jardine, decided to forget about what the team is currently experiencing in the Liga MX Apertura 2024 tournament in which they have not had the start that everyone expected to put their chip with the aim of emerging triumphant in the 2024 edition of the Leagues Cup; this championship unites the teams of the Liga MX with those of the Major League Soccer (MLS) in an attempt to boost both leagues.

In statements to the media, the Brazilian coach acknowledged that his team is not in the best moment desired despite having defeated the Bravos de Juárez 2-1 in the last round of Aztec football to add three valuable points in this start; he also highlighted the focus of his players with each of the matches they play.

“All the Liga MX teams will be in the Leagues Cup, training, playing. It is a very high-level competition that also allows us to spend time together. It is an opportunity to get together more, to get to know each other better. We have several good new additions. It is going to be a good experience,” he said.

“The feeling that when we return from the Leagues Cup we will be quite ready for the league at the level we want, which is the important thing,” added André Jardine in his statements.

Finally, André Jardine rejected the idea of having to choose between the Liga MX or the Leagues Cup and stated that all the players on the Coapa squad are focused on being able to perform as well as possible on the field to add victories and be able to win the championship title in both competitions.

“I personally think that when you prioritise one competition over another, you tell the group that one is not that important and I don’t like that. We have a very clear philosophy of being focused on the next match and the next competition, and the Leagues Cup becomes our priority,” concluded the Barça coach.

Club América is qualified for the first round of the 2024 Leagues Cup for being the champion of Liga MX, this prevents it from participating in the Group Stage and must only wait for the winner of second place in West Group 8, which includes Houston Dynamo, Real Salt Lake and Atlas.
