One of the best football teams in recent years is undoubtedly Manchester City. The Citizens have won six of the last eight Premier League titles and were the Champions League champions in 2023 and runners-up in 2021.

One of the key players in Pep Guardiola’s team has been midfielder Kevin De Bruyne. The Belgian arrived in Manchester in 2015 and has since earned the captaincy of the team, becoming one of the club’s leading figures.

Despite being 33 years old and with a contract until 2025, some rumours began to emerge about De Bruyne. There was speculation that he would leave City for Arab football, specifically Al Ittihad.

However, Guardiola himself recently had to come out to deny these rumours and confirm that he is counting on the talented Belgian midfielder for next season.

“Kevin is not leaving. If someone wants to leave this summer, we will talk about it and, of course, until the last day of the transfer window we have the possibility of players coming and going, but De Buryne is not going to leave,” were the words of the Spanish coach in a press conference prior to the pre-season tournament that the team will play in the United States.

Guardiola also confirmed that not only will there be no departures, but also no signings. He believes that his team’s squad is almost complete as it currently stands.

“I don’t rule out new players as an option, but I think there is a 95% chance that we will have the same squad. I feel comfortable, because the quality of human beings that we have in the squad is difficult to replace, and the quality is there.

However, he did not completely rule out any move before the transfer window closes. “But we will see, I don’t know if at the last minute someone will come for one of our players and they will end up leaving and we will have to replace those departures, we will decide that,” concluded the experienced coach.
