A domestic violence case ended the life of a 54-year-old woman at the hands of her boyfriend in Pima County, when he kidnapped her and did not allow her to get out of the vehicle he was driving at excessive speed. In her desperation, the victim called emergency services for help, but they did not get anywhere. She jumped out of the moving car and died from her injuries.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department (PCSD) identified the woman as Debra Murrieta, who made an emergency call over the weekend to report that her boyfriend, William Nathaniel Holloway, 36, was using drugs and behaving erratically.

Debra told authorities the man wouldn’t let her out of the car, which he was speeding on Mount Lemmon, KOLD News reported.

Debra called the emergency services crying

During the phone call, the operator could hear Debra crying, so they immediately sent patrol cars to Catalina Highway, where they placed a spike strip in an attempt to stop William, but they were unsuccessful because he dodged them.

From that moment, the agents began a chase and after several minutes, Debra decided to jump out of the vehicle. Medical services transferred the victim to a hospital where she was soon declared dead due to her injuries, KVOA reported.

The man said they had problems

Officers stopped William miles later and he was immediately arrested. According to KOLD, the man said he didn’t know the officers were chasing him, that he did see his partner jump out of the car and did nothing to stop, and confirmed that they were having problems in their relationship.

The sheriff’s department said the suspect had consumed about 20 fentanyl pills.

William Holloway was booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Complex on multiple felony charges, including domestic violence kidnapping, first-degree murder and unlawful flight from police.

With criminal record

Pima County Sheriff’s Office said the man was involved in a car accident in which he crashed into a light pole and has a DUI charge. He also has a long criminal history.
