Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump warned Friday of the possibility of a major war in the Middle East and a potential Third World War if he does not win the upcoming November elections.
During a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida, Trump stressed the importance of his victory for global stability.
Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu met the day after the Israeli leader held separate meetings with President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris at the White House, the Efe news agency reported.
“If we win, everything will be resolved very quickly,” Trump said at the start of the meeting with Netanyahu, stressing that the situation in the Middle East could escalate into major wars and, potentially, a Third World War if he does not return to the presidency.
The former president also expressed his concern about the proximity of a possible Third World War. He pointed out that the United States had never before been so close to a global conflict due to what he described as a lack of competence in the current administration.
Trump greeted Netanyahu with a firm handshake at the entrance of his mansion, before moving inside for a private meeting. In his remarks, the Republican expressed his solidarity with Israel following the attack on October 7, 2023, and promised to work for peace in the Middle East and combat anti-Semitism on US college campuses when he returns to the White House.
Prime Minister Netanyahu, who thanked Trump for his work in promoting stability in the region, traveled to Washington this week, where he addressed Congress and called for continued US support for Israel in its conflict with Hamas in Gaza.
Following his speech to Congress and meetings with Biden and Harris, Netanyahu traveled to Florida to meet with Trump.
Vice President Harris, following her meeting with Netanyahu, stressed the need for a ceasefire and the importance of addressing human suffering in Gaza. Her comments were called disrespectful to Israel by Trump, who questioned how a Jewish person could vote for her.
Trump concluded his remarks by reiterating his commitment to Israel and the importance of its leadership in preventing a major global conflict.
