New York – The campaign of the Republican candidate for vice president of the United States said on Saturday that what Ohio Senator JD Vance also said in an interview in 2021 about women who do not have children has been “distorted.”

Vance’s spokesperson, Taylor Van Kirk, blamed “left-wing media outlets” for creating “a false narrative” about his position on various issues.

“The only ones without children that we should be talking about are the childless parents who lost their children to murderers and fentanyl coming across Kamala’s southern border,” he said, referring to U.S. Vice President and Democratic presidential hopeful Kamala Harris.

Vance has faced a barrage of criticism from actresses Jennifer Aniston and Whoopi Goldberg and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for comments he made about women who do not have children while criticizing Democratic leaders like Kamala Harris for the way they run the country.

In a 2021 interview with Fox, which went viral after being chosen as Donald Trump’s running mate for the November election, Vance criticized the country for being in the hands of “bitter” single women.

He then said that the US was governed by Democrats, whom he referred to as “a bunch of childless, cat-loving spinsters who have miserable lives and have made miserable choices, so they want the rest of the country to be miserable too.”

He placed Harris, Congresswoman Alejandra Ocasio Cortez and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, who is gay, in that group.

“From Meghan McCain (daughter of former Senator McCain) to Jennifer Aniston, people have said that he was attacking those who cannot have children and that he wants to ban in vitro fertilization. Nothing could be further from the truth,” he said in a statement.

She stressed that Vance supports fertility treatments and recalled that he has supported legislation in this regard.

“This is just another baseless hoax in an effort to undermine JD Vance, just as they have done to Donald Trump for years,” the spokeswoman said.
