Winning prizes in lottery games is an exciting experience that is often attributed to luck. Although there are no sure-fire ways to increase the odds of winning, superstitions and alternative methods have gained popularity among players.

Recently, a new method of selecting numbers has become popular: betting on the license plate numbers of cars involved in accidents or passing by at high speed. This practice has proven successful for some players.
A Hyattsville man, for example, has won more than $55,000 using this method. The winning ticket number was 20533. Although the man does not remember exactly where the number came from, he told the Maryland Lottery that he often chooses license plate numbers.
The winner, a retired retail worker who now works as a fisherman, expressed his joy at receiving the prize, but mentioned that this is not the first time he has won. He had previously won $5,000 in a Pick 4 drawing in 2023, simply by changing the number to 2053 and playing it in various combinations until he hit the jackpot. The lucky man plans to use the prize to open a savings account for his grandson, ensuring him a better future.
The store that sold the winning ticket, a Mt. Rainier 7-Eleven at 2310 Varnum Street, also shared in the joy of winning. For selling the winning Pick 5 ticket, they will receive a $500 bonus from the Maryland Lottery.
