Bibb County authorities discovered human remains in a wooded area and said they may belong to a young mother who went missing in October of last year. Two men are under arrest, one of them the father of the victim’s children, while another person of interest was also detained by police.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office reported in a statement that a construction crew discovered human remains in a wooded area in Monroe County, and the remains were sent to the Coroner’s Office for further study to confirm whether they belong to Gabriella Dixon.
“The remains are believed to be those of the missing person, Gabriella Dixon. The remains have been sent to the GBI for positive identification,” they wrote in the statement.
Gabriella’s family is certain the remains do belong to the victim because of the clothes she was last seen wearing and the color of her hair, 13 WMAZ reported.
She disappeared after leaving her children
Gabriella Dixon, 18, a mother of two, was last seen on October 30, 2023 in Macon when she took her children to her grandmother’s house. According to NBC, the 2-year-old told her grandmother that her mom “had blood on her,” while the other mentioned that “she was asleep.”
Last week, when the remains were discovered, Bibb County authorities discovered two persons of interest who could be behind Gabriella’s death. One of them is the father of her children, Reginald Harris, who is already in jail for domestic violence.
Two in custody
“Warrants for Reginald Harris were served at the Bibb County Police Center for the murder of Dixon,” police confirmed.
The other suspect arrested is Jatarvius Deangelo Price, 19, who is charged with conspiracy to commit murder.
“A suspect was arrested at a residence in Monroe County. The arrest occurred during the execution of a warrant related to the investigation,” they said.
They added that, “Price was arrested on November 17, 2023, and charged with making false statements and tampering with evidence, but posted bond on these charges on November 18, 2023, and was released.”
The Bibb County Sheriff has no further information at this time.
The victim’s family launched a GoFundMe campaign in November to raise funds to locate Gabirella, but they were unable to raise the funds they requested.
