A man from Dundalk, Maryland, won a $1.04 million prize after opting for a cheaper lottery ticket to avoid upsetting his wife, who doesn’t like him spending too much on lottery tickets.
The man, who was hanging out with friends in Baltimore, originally considered buying a $30 FAST PLAY ticket but decided to exchange it for a $20 FAST PLAY Extreme Green ticket, according to a July 30 release from the Maryland Lottery.
The lucky winner, who regularly plays the lottery, commented on his initial reaction: “At first when I saw it, I went crazy. I looked at it and my eyes rolled back in my head.”
This prize is the largest he has ever won, surpassing his previous personal record of $1,500.
After signing the ticket and calling his wife to give her the good news, the man headed home.
However, upon arrival, he realized that he could not find the ticket.
Fortunately, he had left it in his wallet in the center console of the car.
Although he has no concrete plans for his new fortune yet, the winner plans to continue playing the lottery because he enjoys the thrill.
