Former US President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has said he is willing to debate Kamala Harris, the presumptive Democratic nominee, as long as it is done before the start of early voting, which begins in mid-September in some states, including Pennsylvania, which is considered a key state.
In an interview with Fox News, Donald Trump acknowledged that he would “probably end up debating her,” but lamented that the network that is scheduled to do so on September 10, ABC News, “will get rich” off of him.
“I don’t want to give millions of dollars to ABC so they can get rich,” said the former president during the interview, who has also proposed that Fox News take charge of organizing the face-to-face.
“She has no foundation”
Trump, who has expressed his doubts about holding the second presidential debate, said he is not afraid to face Kamala Harris in front of the cameras, “it is easier to debate against her” since she does not have a “base” like President Joe Biden had.
Biden resigned after pressure from the Democratic Party due to his advanced age, but especially after his poor performance in the debate held in June.
The former Republican president reiterated that Biden’s resignation was a “coup” by the Democratic Party and even former President Barack Obama warned Biden that he had to give up reelection “by hook or by crook.”
“Far-left lunatic”
The businessman also described his probable Democratic rival for the presidential elections as a “far-left lunatic” and assured that a debate is not necessary to know who she really is.
Trump also revealed that on the day of the attack against him during a rally in Pennsylvania on July 13, his wife, Melania Trump, was following him live and that it is very hard for her to talk about that moment.
“He can’t talk about it, that means he loves me or he likes me,” said Trump, who again praised the work of the Secret Service for protecting him with their bodies, despite acknowledging possible communication failures between security agents in his attack, which was perpetrated by a 20-year-old young man armed with an AR-15 rifle.
“The sniper got off a great shot and took out the gunman with one shot, but ideally he would have done it nine seconds earlier,” Trump said.
“I lay down on the ground, bullets were flying overhead and they were on top of me; I had a lot of people on top of me, a lot of big, strong people on top of me, and they were very brave,” the former president recalled.
