Truly emotional and special scenes were experienced this Saturday at the Paris Olympic Games when an athlete belonging to the Chinese delegation proposed marriage to his partner seconds after she won the gold medal in badminton doubles.
In images that went around the world through social media and in the athlete’s own interview after receiving the medal, her boyfriend, Liu Yuchen, also a Chinese badminton player and star, surprised everyone by getting down on one knee to make his proposal.
As the video shows, Yuchen takes a small ring out of his pocket and shows it to the champion Huang Yaquiong, who, although at first she remains static, later confirms her yes, which she went on to celebrate with a kiss and a hug in front of those present at the Adidas Arena in Paris this Friday.
Although the video was special and showed a different side of what athletes experience at the Olympic Games, this is not the first case of this type that has occurred at the event because a few weeks ago, when the competition was about to begin, similar images also occurred.
In the Olympic Village, the Argentine handball player, Pablo Simonet, also proposed to his girlfriend María Campoy, a member of the Albiceleste field hockey team, which also ended with a yes and a wedding party that is expected to be held after the Olympic Games.
