New York Yankees outfielder Juan Soto continues to be the subject of rumors linking him to a massive free agency deal in 2025, and new reports suggest his contract could be higher than initially considered.

According to Bleacher Report’s Zachary Rymer, there is a good chance that Soto will enter free agency and, together with his representative Scott Boras, will get a contract worth more than $500 million dollars.

However, although Rymer mentions that the negotiation with the Dominican would be for a total of $520 million dollars, what is striking is that he would be linked for at least 15 years, in a record contract for an agreement of this type.

Rymer also says the Yankees will pursue Soto despite strong competition from their crosstown rivals, the New York Mets and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Likewise, another that could compete in the market would be their division rivals, the Toronto Blue Jays, who, according to reports, would be looking for a strong left-handed hitter for the 2025 season.

“While other teams such as the Rangers, Nationals, Giants and Toronto Blue Jays have been mentioned as candidates for Soto, his free agency appears destined to be a New York-based battle between the Yankees and Mets,” he said.

So far, Soto has had a great season with the Yankees and if it weren’t for the performance of his teammate Aaron Judge, he would possibly be in the mix for the American League Most Valuable Player award.

The information coincides with what was reported a few weeks ago by New York Post journalist Jon Heyman, who stated that Soto would wait until entering free agency to seek a deal similar to that of Shohei Ohtani with the Dodgers (10 years and $700 million dollars).

The right fielder has a batting average of .309, with 27 home runs, 77 RBIs, 89 walks and an on-base percentage of 1.030.
