More than three months ago it was reported that Jennifer Lopez had found someone interested in her New York penthouse, but it was not until Monday of last week that the sales contract was signed. This is good news for the singer and actress.
Lopez reportedly received $23 million for the Manhattan property. That’s a far cry from the $26.9 million she was hoping to receive when she listed it in 2017, as the singer-actress had been trying to sell the place for seven years.
According to ‘The Real Deal’, the buyer of the penthouse was a limited liability company based in West Palm Beach, Florida. At this time, it has not been said whether this LLC is related to any other famous person.
The lack of interested parties for so many years caused the price of the residence to drop. The last time it was recorded on the market was in September 2023. At that time, its price was $24.9 million dollars.
Although Jennifer Lopez didn’t manage to sell the place for the amount she initially hoped for, the $23 million is still more than the $20.16 million she paid for the property in 2014.
It should be noted that this penthouse is located in The Whitman, a building that dates back to the 1920s. For many reasons, it is surprising that the place has taken so long to sell.
The apartment has an area of 10,000 square feet distributed in four bedrooms, eight bathrooms, hall, living room, main room, dining room, kitchen, laundry room and other amenities.
Among the interior features are a private elevator, marble-clad walls and recessed lighting. The house has also been fitted with a smart home system.
The new owner will also have some terraces at his disposal to enjoy the views of the city. Although it is not known what the intention of this LLC is with the penthouse.
