Argentine football witnessed one of the best games of 2024 on Tuesday after Lanús striker Walter Bou scored with a bicycle kick from outside the area and in added time the winning goal for his team 3-2 against Tigre.
With the match 2-2, including a double from winger Toto Salvio (ex-Pumas de la UNAM), it seemed that the score would end in a tie, but the gem that Bou invented was worth more than three points, becoming the great savior at the La Fortaleza stadium.
When all of Lanús was trying to find the winning goal, a long pass requested by the nicknamed La Panterita ended in a miscalculation for the Tigre defender, who ran too far, allowing the attacker to take the ball with his chest and invent the shot to look for the longed-for goal.
The result ended with a bicycle kick from outside the area that went straight to the far post, leaving Tigre’s goalkeeper motionless as he watched the ball end up in the back of the net.
The goal was an explosion for Bou, his teammates and the public, who ran to celebrate the goal for a victory that leaves them in ninth place in Argentine soccer, with 15 points.
After the match, ESPN Argentina asked Bou if he thought the goal could compete for the next edition of the Puskas award and he nodded with a “hopefully”.
