Argentine striker Julián Álvarez will leave Manchester City in this transfer market and everything indicates that Atlético de Madrid will sign “La Araña” after the end of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
City are willing to sell Julian to the Spanish side, who have made a formal offer worth around €70 million ($76.68 million) in fixed fees plus €20 million ($21.91 million) in variables, according to figures reported by The Athletic.
“Discussions are underway to finalise a fee and payment schedule for the 24-year-old’s signing. City are demanding at least five times the £14 million ($17.87 million) they paid River Plate for the Argentina international in January 2022,” Sky Sports reported.
The former River player is a project of coach Diego Simeone for the planning of the 2024/2025 season, where the colchonero team will be competing in the Champions League.
Álvarez, who recently spoke about his professional future, received an unexpected response from coach Pep Guardiola: “Let him think about it. And when he finishes thinking, he will let us know,” said the coach.
“I heard what Guardiola said. I don’t have much to say about it. I never said anything bad. I just said that I was going to think about it like I do every season to make an analysis of what happened last season, a projection of what may come. I always say that I am comfortable and happy at City, which is a great club. So I didn’t say anything bad,” said Álvarez in conversation with TyC Sports.
