Real Madrid finally secured a win after two defeats on their friendly tour of the United States by beating Chelsea 2-1 at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte on Tuesday.

Goals from Lucas Vázquez and Brahim Díaz, both in the first half (19′, 27′) boosted a Real Madrid side that, despite suffering a goal before the break from the Englishman Noni Madueke, did not suffer any major headaches in their defence.

Los Blancos were led by Vinícius Jr., who was finally able to make his debut as a starter on this friendly tour and who looked very focused, even participating in the second goal for the Casa Blanca.

But the star of the match was undoubtedly the left-footed Spaniard who has become a naturalised Moroccan, Díaz. His performance ended with a counterattack in which he gave the ball to assist Vásquez, who finished with suspense, and then took advantage of a pass from the Brazilian star to leave the rival goalkeeper in the lurch and finish without problems into the back of the net.

Despite the exciting backdrop, the Charlotte stadium, where the Carolina Panthers usually play home game in the NFL, was not completely filled, welcoming 62,167 fans out of a total capacity of 75,037, although it was almost entirely dominated by Real Madrid fans.

The remaining fans are believed to have been absent due to weather conditions, as North Carolina is awaiting the arrival of Tropical Storm Debby, which has caused havoc in the southeastern United States.

Despite the cloudy weather and the threat of bad weather, the match took place normally and there was no rain in any of the areas.
