The alleged dispute between Shakira and Karol G could reach its peak during the upcoming 2024 MTV Video Music Awards.
And unlike last year, when the Colombian stars became the stars of the evening by winning the award for Best Collaboration for the song “TQG,” this year’s awards ceremony, to be held on September 10, will see both artists compete for Best Latin amid a wide variety of rumors about a growing rivalry between them.
Shakira and Karol G will meet again
It was last August 6, during the revelation of the nominees for the 2024 edition of the VMAs, that it was revealed that the Latinas could meet again after months of rumors about an alleged dispute.
And while the presence of South Americans at the event cannot be guaranteed at this time, the prestige and scope of the 2024 VMAs could become the perfect setting to see the stars again.
Regarding the alleged dispute between the two, it is believed to have started a few months ago when the singer of “Tusa” met with Shakira’s ex-partner, Gerard Piqué, and his current girlfriend, Clara Chía, in the city of Barcelona.
Although the reason for the alleged meeting between the singer and the footballer has not yet been revealed, this action would have caused great displeasure and discomfort in Shakira, who considered Karol G’s action as a “betrayal.”
As a form of revenge and response, the interpreter of “Waka Waka” caused great controversy after inviting Karol G’s ex-partner, Anuel AA, to the presentation event of her most recent album “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran”.
In addition to all of the above, and more recently, the Colombian singer has confirmed her dispute with Karol G after, during an interview, she spoke little or almost nothing about her experience with her compatriot on the song “TQG”. Meanwhile, and during the same conversation, she praised and “went out of her way” in “praise” towards Cardi B, with whom she collaborated on the song “Puntería”, mentioned as the best collaboration of her career.
Similarly, and through social media, Shakira’s followers have mentioned that Karol G usually copies the style and way of dancing of the interpreter of “Día de Enero”, to which Karol G’s fans mention that the Colombian is the next big star of the coffee-growing country, which usually generates jealousy and envy.
It will not be until September 10th that it will be revealed whether the singers will take part in the ceremony and, if they do attend, whether they will reveal their alleged dispute or put all the rumors to rest.
