After years of absence from film work, award-winning Mexican director Alfonso Cuarón has once again “raised his hand” in Hollywood with the release of the first trailer for his upcoming series “Disclaimer.”
The production, which will premiere on October 11 through the Apple TV streaming platform, will tell the story of a TV documentary maker who is forced to reveal the truth behind various renowned institutions.
In addition to the work of Cuarón, who directs, writes and produces the series, “Disclaimer” will feature a renowned cast led by Oscar winner Cate Blanchett, English actor Sacha Baron Cohen, Oscar nominee Kodi Smith-McPhee, among other established and emerging stars.
Alfonso Cuarón gives more details about his new series
Following the release of the first trailer for Cuarón’s series, the director of “Children of Men,” which has accumulated more than 100,000 views in less than a day, took to his official Instagram account to reveal more details about his characters.
Through a series of photographs, where you can see each of the main characters of the series, the producer also wrote a line to describe each of them.
In the case of Cate Blanchett, who will play Catherine Ravenscroft, Cuarón wrote “Burning your desires.” Regarding Baron Cohen, Robert Ravenscroft in the series, he wrote: “Hungover, hurt and betrayed.”
Regarding Kodi Smith-McPhee, who will play Blanchett’s son Nicolas Ravenscroft, Alfonso wrote: “Betrayed by his mother.” Meanwhile, regarding Kevin Kline, the series’ protagonist under the character of Stephen Brigstocke, he wrote: “He is stalking me.”
Alfonso Cuarón’s series, which will follow the traditional series format by releasing one episode each week, is based on the work of the same name, released in 2015, by writer, screenwriter and documentary filmmaker Reneé Knight, who also serves as producer.
In addition to the talent of Cuarón, “Disclaimer” will once again bring Alfonso together with the renowned and multi-award-winning director of photography Emmanuel Lubezki, after his successful work on “Gravity,” in the same position that has brought him 3 Oscars in consecutive years. Likewise, and just like Lubezki, “Disclaimer” will feature the talent of the artist Bruno Delbonnel.
The series, which represents Cuarón’s first television project after the pilot for the series “Believe” in 2014, will have 7 episodes.
