In a touching twist, Britney Spears’ sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, have decided to forgive their grandfather, Jamie Spears, and have expressed their longing for him, Mark Vincent Kaplan, Kevin Federline’s attorney, told Page Six.
The news comes after years of tension and public conflict between Britney and her father, who have been locked in a lengthy legal battle over the singer’s guardianship.
The young people, aged 18 and 17, have shared that they miss their grandfather and that they want to overcome past problems in order to strengthen family ties.
“The kids miss their grandfather. They have forgiven him,” Kaplan said. “They have been talking to Jamie,” he added, adding that he had a leg amputated last year after a knee replacement caused a “terrible infection.”
It should be remembered that Jamie Spears was imposed a restraining order against his grandchildren after being accused in August 2019 of a physical altercation with Sean Preston, who was 13 years old at the time.
The “Princess of Pop”‘s father allegedly kicked down a door to get to the teen during an argument, but he was left with no bruises.
The Ventura County District Attorney’s Office ultimately decided not to criminally charge James for the incident, but a restraining order was imposed on him.
Now, five years after that incident, the lawyer explained that this restriction “expired on its own terms.”
“There is no restriction between Jamie communicating with them or them communicating with Jamie,” he confirmed.
An insider also told TMZ that the teens reportedly have plans to visit Britney’s dad in Louisiana. While Kaplan couldn’t confirm that information, she did say that Kevin Federline wouldn’t be opposed to the visit and is in favor of his kids reconciling with their grandfather.
The about-face marks a significant moment in the life of the Spears family, which has been marked by controversy and media attention for years. The reconciliation suggests an effort by the young people to heal old wounds and find common ground despite past differences.
Meanwhile, Britney Spears has been keeping a low profile regarding this recent family reconciliation, but it is hoped that the news will offer a ray of hope that she and her father can smooth things over and restore harmony within the Spears family.
Sean Preston and Jayden James have also improved their relationship with their mother after being estranged from her for some time.
