Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris asked a small pro-Palestinian protester at a rally in Detroit, Michigan, who were shouting as she addressed the crowd to be quiet. The vice president told the protesters, “I’m talking,” as the event was interrupted.

Kamala Harris attended a rally attended by around 15,000 people, although a group of pro-Palestinian protesters also attended and began singing and shouting phrases related to the war in the Gaza Strip.

“I believe in democracy”

“You know what? If you want Donald Trump to win, keep talking. I’m here because I believe in democracy, I believe that everyone’s voice matters. If I’m not talking… I’m talking,” Harris said.

The rally had been interrupted by protesters halfway through, chanting: “Kamala, Kamala, you can’t hide, we will not vote for genocide.”

EFE reported that at least six people needed medical attention during the rally due to the high temperatures recorded in the city.

The campaign raised $36 million

Kamala Harris’ campaign also reported that in the 24 hours after announcing her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, they have raised $36 million.

Harris’ campaign raised nearly a million dollars just by selling camouflage caps bearing the Democratic candidates’ last name, “Harris-Walz.”

They also said they raised $310 million in July, more than double the amount former President Donald Trump said he received last month.

The contributions included $200 million that Harris raised in the seven days after President Joe Biden withdrew from the race and she launched her bid for the White House, EFE reported.

Together in Wisconsin

It is worth noting that Harris and Walz appeared in Wisconsin, where some 12,000 people were present to hear the proposals of the Democratic candidates.

They stressed that their candidacy represents the “future,” as opposed to their Republican opponents, who accuse them of wanting to reverse the country’s “progress.”

Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance was also in the same state on the same day for a campaign event.
