Nafis Wiggins was sentenced to 10 years in state prison after pleading guilty to providing narcotics to two teenagers “in exchange for sexual favors” in New Jersey.

Wiggins, 26, pleaded guilty in March. Investigators say he provided unspecified drugs to two victims ages 14 and 15 multiple times between Aug. 1 and Sept. 28, 2023, after “recruiting and luring the minors through text messages,” the statement said. Daily News.

Wiggins, who was 25 at the time, allegedly met the two teens at different locations in Chatham Township and Chatham Borough and took them “to more secluded areas for drug use and sexual activities,” Morris County Prosecutor Robert Carroll said in a statement.

He was arrested on Dec. 19, 2023, at Cougar Field in Chatham Township, near a high school, where he was found in possession of a controlled substance, police reported. NJ 101.5 FM.

On Thursday, Judge Claudia R. Jones sentenced him to a decade in prison. Wiggins will also be required to register as a sex offender and will be subject to lifetime parole supervision, meaning he will have to follow the rules and conditions set by his parole officer for a minimum of 15 years after his release from prison.

In a similar case, last week a man pleaded guilty to abusing his stepdaughter for years, starting when she was 7 years old, in Long Island, NY.

The number of sexual assaults committed by strangers has increased in New York, as have domestic rapes. And the cases are often higher, and most rapes remain unreported.

One of the most high-profile recent cases occurred in June, when a 13-year-old girl was abused while playing soccer with a friend of the same age in Kissena Park in Queens. A 25-year-old Hispanic man was arrested and beaten by the community, and later confessed to the crime.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) has been warning since 2020 about an increase in cases of child pornography due to the increased time spent online by adults and children using social media.
