Sylvia Pasquel and Alejandra Guzmán have decided to respond to the accusations against them, after being accused of trying to divide up the inheritance of their mother Silvia Pinal, through the creation of the foundation that bears her name.

It was on July 18 that Pasquel, 74, and Guzmán, 56, joined forces to announce the birth of the foundation with which they intend to honor the name of the legendary actress.

In a press release, Silvia Pinal Hidalgo, Sylvia Banquells Pinal and Alejandra Guzmán Pinal denied these accusations and clarified the versions against them, emphasizing that they are only “a series of lies and slander” that try to hinder the social work that they intend to do with this work.

In the document, they also deny any wrongdoing and affirm that all decisions related to the administration of Pinal’s assets have been made in a transparent manner and in accordance with the law.

Pasquel and Guzmán have explained that the management of their mother’s assets has been done with the aim of preserving her legacy and guaranteeing her well-being.

“The Silvia Pinal Foundation was not created to donate the assets of Mrs. Silvia Pinal, nor to deprive her of them by her family,” it states.

“The procedure before SAT (Tax Administration Service) will be carried out for the following corporate purpose: To provide financial support in cash or in kind to people authorized to receive tax-deductible donations, in our case to the Pioneers of Film, Theater, Radio and Television as has been done for 33 years in the Rafael Banquells Association,” they added.

Both clarified these points after public statements were made that, by creating the Silvia Pinal AC Foundation, they would be exempt from taxes upon receiving their inheritance and that they intended to donate to themselves the painting that Diego Rivera made for their mother, with an estimated value of $3 million dollars.

“The SAT only allows you to have a social purpose, which in our case will be social assistance to vulnerable people. At no time is it intended to transfer Diego Rivera’s painting as a donation to said foundation, firstly, because its purpose is not cultural, another clear lie.”

Alejandra Guzmán and Sylvia Pasquel explain why Luis Enrique Guzmán is not part of the foundation

“For the creation of the Silvia Pinal Foundation, and in agreement with our brother Luis Enrique Guzmán and at the suggestion of the notary, the decision was made that it would be represented by Mrs. Pinal’s daughters.”

“Actions speak louder than words, and if anything has characterized the life of Mrs. Silvia Pinal, it is her philanthropic work. Our only interest as brothers is to continue her mission and her example. Our mother is very happy to know that the Foundation will bear her name, but she is even happier to know that the pioneers of the industry who need it so much will continue to receive financial support,” they conclude.
