As one half of the dynamic DJ duo Masters at Work, the GRAMMY winner and seven-time nominee has forged an astonishing career out of a broad melodic palette, blending house, salsa, Afrobeat, jazz, hip-hop, gospel and R&B into a disco inferno with a unique Latin twist. Art Festival for My People

Teatro SEA’s annual Latin American arts and culture festival, Arte Pa’ Mi Gente/Arts for All, returns this Saturday, August 10 outdoors, featuring a free day of family-friendly celebration. This year, the festival is centered around the theme “Latiné Children’s Music Day,” highlighting the importance of Latin music created by and for children. Featured guests include Musiquita with Blanca Cecilia Gonzalez and Jesse Elder (photo), children from The Mariachi Academy of New York, El Trotamundos straight from Puerto Rico, Bilingual Birdies Band, the Children’s Choir of Iglesia Santo Niño Jesús – San Benito José Labre, and recently Latin Grammy-nominated children’s singer Flor Bromley. The Mayan art of Sara Currucuchich

Enjoy the artistry of performer, composer, and songwriter Sara Curruchich, who finds inspiration in her Mayan culture, composing in her native Kaqchikel language and in Spanish. This Saturday, August 10, at Lincoln Center’s David Geffen Hall, Curruchich will offer a deep dive into indigenous Mayan culture, weaving stories of resistance and love. Tito Nieves in Staten Island

This Sunday, August 11, Tito Nieves will fill the stage at Staten Island’s Stapleton Waterfront Park (Water St. and Navy Pier Ct) with music during a free show at 5:00 p.m. The Puerto Rican salsero got his start with orchestras in New York but made a name for himself as a solo artist in the 1980s singing salsa in English. He scored a huge hit in 1997 with his energetic cover of Pete Rodriguez’s “I Like It Like That.” For his Staten Island show, he will be joined by freestyle singer Cynthia, best known for her 1991 duet with Johnny O “Dreamboy/Dreamgirl.” DJ Lucy Euclid and Vinnie Medugno will round out the show. On Broadway: Oh, Mary!

The comedy Mary! continues to rack up hits and plenty of laughs, so it has just announced that it will extend its season (for now) until November 10. Created and starring Cole Escola (in his Broadway debut), the play tells the story of a miserable and suffocated Mary Todd Lincoln, in the weeks leading up to the assassination of Abraham Lincoln, doing everything possible to return to work in a cabaret play, her only interest and passion. Amidst events that intertwine history and fiction, Escola manages to make the audience laugh thanks to some funny dialogues but above all thanks to her masterful acting. With Conrad Ricamora as Mary’s husband, James Scully as Mary’s teacher, Bianca Leigh as Mary’s companion and Tony Macht as Mary’s husband’s assistant, the production is directed by Sam Pinkleton, and produced by Kevin McCollum & Lucas McMahon and Mike Lavoie & Carlee Briglia.
