Argentine star Lionel Messi continues to recover from the injury he suffered to his right ankle during the Copa América final with the Argentine national team.

Messi was seen cheering on his team, Inter Miami, from one of the boxes at their stadium, while cameras captured the famous footballer accompanied by his family and under the watchful guard of his personal bodyguard, Yassine Cheuko.

On his Instagram account, the captain of the Argentine national team posted a photo with his wife Antonela Roccuzzo at Chase Stadium.

In the image, it could be seen that although his right ankle is still somewhat swollen, there are no longer any bruises or significant traces of the injury, nor the use of the orthopedic boot.

Fans noticed improvements in his condition and were optimistic about his speedy recovery.

Inter Miami’s next match is scheduled for Monday, August 12, when they will face the winner of the Columbus Crew vs. Sporting Kansas City match.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding Messi’s return, the Florida team continues to advance in the season and hopes to have its star back on the field soon. Las Garzas also lead the Eastern Conference after 25 games. They have a total of 53 points and are five ahead of second-placed Cincinnati FC.

Martino sees Messi “getting better and better”

Inter Miami coach Gerardo Martino said that Lionel Messi, who has been injured in his right ankle since the Copa America final on July 14, is recovering as expected.

“I’m reading well, improving, improving every day. He’s still in the gym, but he looks better and better. He’s within the time frame we’ve been thinking about,” he said in a press conference prior to the match against Toronto in the round of 32 of the Leagues Cup, which will be played in a single match.

It is worth remembering that the medical report from the American team reported that it was a ligament injury in the right ankle. “The captain’s availability will depend on periodic evaluations and the progress of his recovery,” concluded the statement from Las Garzas.
