The first game of the series between the White Sox and Cubs took place this Friday at Guaranteed Rate Field. The visiting team won 7-6, thus extending the White Sox’s losing streak, which has reached 90 losses this season and 9 in the last 10 games.

Overall, the current record of the Chicago franchise is 28-90 with 44 games remaining in the season. The White Sox are aiming to take the crown of the worst season in the history of the Major Leagues in the modern era from the New York Mets.

That not at all encouraging place belongs to the Queens franchise for the 1962 season in which they finished with a record of 40-120, something that the Illinois team could surpass this season.

According to projections, the White Sox could end the season with around 123 losses, which would be the most in a season since 1901.

One thing that seems almost certain to be broken is the franchise’s record for losses, which stands at 106 losses in the 1970 season.

The franchise is trying to turn things around and has ended up firing Pedro Grifol as manager of the team. In his place, they have announced the young Grady Sizemore, who was Grifol’s assistant since the beginning of the season.

For now, all that remains is to wait to see if the white-footed team can avoid becoming the franchise with the most losses in the modern era of the Major Leagues and be able to rebuild a project for 2025 and try to achieve the feat they completed in 2005 when they won the World Series.
