The young promise of American basketball, the Indiana Fever player in the WNBA, Caitlin Clark, decided to take a break from the courts to make an appearance at Yankee Stadium and be seen before the doubleheader series between the New York Yankees and the Texas Rangers.
Before the start of the game, Clark was already seen in the Yankees dugout wearing a Mules cap and jersey, with a smile and sharing time with, among others, the team manager, Aaron Boone, and Dominican star Juan Soto.
But what most surprised the top scorer in NCAA basketball history was when she was able to meet the team captain, Aaron Judge, who surprised her with the star’s physical condition.
“He’s a lot bigger than people think. He’s big, but when you’re around him it’s like… Oh my God! He could play football or whatever sport he wanted to, he’d be really good at basketball probably too, he’s like twice my size,” Clark joked about meeting Judge.
In sports, the first duel was an abuse by the locals against the Texans, a resounding 8-0 that did not need home runs until in the eighth Jazz Chisholm Jr. converted his 19th home run of the year.
The second game was very different, and although it started the same as the first, with a single by Venezuelan Gleyber Torres, this time the visitors reacted quickly with five runs in the sixth inning that ended with a three-run homer by Corey Seager for the Mules’ 9-4 defeat.
The series will be decided this Sunday in the third and decisive meeting between the two teams at Yankee Stadium.
