The United States has put together a true “Dream Team” for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Figures such as LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, among others, were present with the North American team that will seek Olympic gold against France.
However, the team led by Steve Kerr suffered against Serbia in the semi-final. Although they won 95-91, they were behind for most of the match.
In that semifinal there was a small controversy that generated some complaints and that is that the Boston Celtics star, Jayson Tatum, did not play a single minute in that match against Serbia. The analyst of ESPN Dick Vitale reportedly commented on social media X that the talented forward was injured and that was why he did not play.
Tatum’s own mother responded to this comment, assuring that the player was not injured and complaining about not having entered the field in such an important match.
“No, it is not. But if you find out what is going on, please let me know. It is unacceptable and it DOES NOT MAKE SENSE,” the NBA player’s mother expressed.
After the game, coach Steve Kerr was asked the same question about not playing Tatum for a single minute in the semifinals. The Celtics player played an average of 19.7 minutes per game for the rest of the Olympic tournament.
“It’s tough to play with 11 players. It’s not what I don’t see in Tatum, it’s what I see in the rest of them,” Kerr reportedly explained after the game.
For now, the United States will go in search of its fifth consecutive Olympic gold when it faces France at Wembanyama, which will be the host.
