Miss Universe, the most important beauty pageant in the world, already has a date for its 2024 edition. This Friday on the television program ‘En Casa con Telemundo’ they made the official announcement.
Raúl Rocha, president of the pageant, together with Osmel Sousa, his advisor, gave details of how he became involved with this franchise: “Things happened and now we are happy to be leading the Miss Universe organization, the oldest beauty pageant in the world, 73 years old.”
She said that this year they will break a record with the participation of women, as they will have 130 candidates, the first time that so many representatives will be part of this event.
Typically, 80 to 90 candidates participate, a real challenge for figures like Osmel Sousa, who is also leading the election of the Mexican representative.
“We call them VIPs because they are girls who have already competed in pageants,” she said about the experienced Mexicans who will fight to represent their country.
According to the information provided by the organizers, the Miss Mexico pageant will be held in Cancun.
Regarding Miss Universe, the preliminary contest will be held on November 14th and the final on November 16th. The gala will be held in Mexico City.
“Don’t talk too much about Miss Universe because we want to dedicate this program to Miss Universe Mexico,” joked Osmel Sousa.
Different countries began to choose their beauty queens so that one of them can be chosen as the successor of Sheynnis Palacios, a Nicaraguan who was elected in El Salvador in December 2023.
The beauty queen has had a busy schedule, visiting different countries to accompany the selection of the new representatives and also to send messages about the importance of the contest.
In recent years, there have been important changes such as the incorporation of transgender women and also adjustments in the age of the contestants, since now there will be no limit, they simply have to be over 18 years old.
