In the tragic plane crash that occurred on Friday in Brazil, three Venezuelans were identified among the 62 victims of the Voepass flight. The plane, a French-made ATR-72-500, crashed while traveling from Cascavel to São Paulo, leaving no survivors.
Voepass clarified that the inclusion of the foreigners in the list of victims was done later, since all the passengers had presented Brazilian documents upon boarding, and it was unknown that four of them had dual nationality, reports the Efe news agency.
The Venezuelan victims were Josgleidys González, her mother María Parra and her 4-year-old son, Joslan Pérez.
According to neighbors of the Venezuelan family, they were heading to São Paulo to take a flight back to Venezuela after several months in Brazil, where the child received medical treatment at a hospital in São Paulo.
The family was temporarily living in Cascavel, in the state of Paraná, and was traveling with their dog, who had the necessary documentation for the international trip.
The plane, carrying 58 passengers and four crew members, crashed about 80 kilometers from its destination. Although the accident occurred in a residential area, the aircraft fell into the backyards of houses, causing no damage to buildings or casualties on the ground.
By Saturday afternoon, rescue teams had recovered the bodies of 42 victims from the wreckage. Among them were the pilot and co-pilot, who were identified by fingerprint analysis.
Another foreign person was a Portuguese woman, identified as Gracinda Marina.
