The United States finished atop the medal table at the Paris 2024 Olympics, despite tying China with 40 gold medals.

The US and Chinese delegations were engaged in a fierce battle for first place in the medal table until the final day, but the Americans took the lead thanks to victories by Jennifer Valente in the track cycling omnium and the women’s basketball team.

The United States closed Paris 2024 with a total of 40 gold, 44 silver and 42 bronze medals, while China, which led on the final day, finished with 40 gold, 27 silver and 24 bronze, occupying second place for the second consecutive edition.
